  • Descrizione: A young man, Foivos, is released from prison and tries to reintegrate into society, searching at first for a job and having only the support of his girlfriend Viki. His mother, Matoula, struggles for living washing other people’s clothes on a daily basis, while his sister, Roula, has gone bad and doesn’t seem likely to return to the fold. His little brother Lefteris falls in love with a student of his, Maria, but her father, Mr Manos, is vehemently opposed to the relationship. Her brothes, Sifis, is a boxer of note and is a contender for the championship, but he doesn’t make it. He is defeated by the champion, Vlasis, and abandons any further effort. Later on, his sister Maria gets pregnant, and so Sifis is forced to go back into the ring to earn money for her wedding – although, because of an old injury, he runs the risk of losing his eyesight. Foivos gets fired from his job because of his criminal record and also because of the fact that his father was a partisan and died in exile. Feeling desperate, he decides to steal the proceeds from a football game. Sifis is defeated again and also loses his sight. Foivos is killed during the operation, and Lefteris, who tries to stop him, ends up in prison. When he is released, Mr. Manos, feeling remorseful, meets him at the exit, apologizes and entrusts him with his daughter, while Sifis has a serious chance of regaining his sight.
